Luisa Sullivan (Davanti Cycling) and Mari Holden put together a really special itinerary full of everything they love about Italy. This is a trip to enjoy Italian cycling culture. We will ride in a Gran Fondo, which strictly translated means "Long Distance Ride". This ride is similar to El Tour de Tucson with thousands of people riding with a mass-start. Some people race, but most people just ride and enjoy the day. We start the week at Lake Garda, which is near Verona at the foot of the Dolomites. We will stay and train for most of the trip at Lake Garda. The area is amazingly beautiful and has spectacular riding. Near the end of the trip we will transfer to the area outside of Monza (north of Milan) and ride in the GF Bugno. Gianni Bugno is one of Italy’s most famous cyclists. He has won the Giro, was on the final podium several times at the Tour(winning Alpe du Huez twice) and is also a two time World Road Champion. He is a Mari Holden’s good friend and will ride with us and have dinner with us when we arrive in Monza. We will also provide the option to shop or sightsee in Milan the day before the Gran Fondo.
